WINDOWS NT SUPPORT
The Universal Desktop Box is fully supported by both Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0. In its previous incarnation as the Multi Multi-Client Desktop is appears on the Hardware Compatability List for both 3.51 and 4.0 under the RISC section.
FX!32 SOFTWARE FROM DIGITAL

Of particular interest to UDB and other Alpha platform owners is FX!32 software from Digital Semiconductor which uses revolutionary patented techniques to enable highly efficient Intel code execution on Alpha platforms. FX!32 is currently in public beta testing, and will shortly be available free of charge from Digital. Further information on FX!32, and its latest status should be obtained directly from the Digital Services web site http://www.service.digital.com/fx32/

NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR FOR WINDOWS NT/ALPHA
Digital and Netscape have released a native version of Netscape Navigator for Windows NT/Alpha, this may be downloaded directly from ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/navigator/3.01/windows/unsupported/alpha/ or corresponding area on your local Netscape mirror site.
MEMORY CONSIDERATIONS

One consideration regarding system sizing concerns the amount of RAM used by RISC systems such as Alpha should be borne in mind. RISC systems typically generate and use larger images than their CISC counterparts, a good rule of thumb is that the amount of RAM required by a RISC system is typically 50% greater than a similar Intel system. Thus 16MB in an Intel system is equivalent to 24MB in an Alpha system. Alpha systems in particular thrive on RAM and the more you can afford to install the better, we generally recommend 56MB as an optimum configuration for a UDB system.
