the Alpha includes the Red Hat distribution (330 packages including sources, on
one CD), 200 page Red Hat User's Guide, Alpha specific installation
instructions, and sixty days of installation support via email.
When installing Red Hat Linux/AXP on Alpha machines you will have the
flexibility to install from NFS, CD-ROM, or a local hard drive. Networking,
time, and keyboard configuration are all part of the install.
After installing Red Hat Linux/AXP once, you will never need to reinstall
Linux again ! The RPM packaging system is sophisticated enough to allow
upgrading to new Red Hat releases without re-installing your system -
partitioning, no backing up all of your files, no headaches

RPM 2.0: A new version of RPM that provides many new features and
dramatically faster performance:
- complete C implementation (no longer requires perl)
- 10 times faster
- RPMs are PGP signed, for authentication and security
- backwards compatible with RPM 1.x

- Fine grained package selection in text install (with package descriptions)
- Disk space required now calculated in text install during package selection
(to help avoid selecting more packages than you have disk space to accommodate)
- Boot from the CD (using MILO) and install without touching a floppy disk
