JUMPER SETTINGSThe Universal Desktop Box has a number of motherboard jumper settings which may be used to configure the system operation. There are two motherboard designs, the VX40 type onto which the 166MHz CPU is directly soldered, and the common VX41 VX42 type with a socketed CPU and cache SIMM. You should ensure that you have correctly identified which model you have before attempting to change any jumper settings.SYSTEM BOARDJumpers for VX40, VX41, VX42 main logic boards VX41 VX40 VX42 Function W9 W12 Mini console (auxiliary) W8 W10 Normal power-up sequence (default) W7 W11 Causes the system to attempt a floppy boot fail safe load (FSL) W6-W3 W6-W3 SRM graphics display resolution W2 W2 Resets or halts system when connected to a switch (see J8) J8 J8 2-3 causes reset (default) 1-2 causes halt request CPU interrupt -- W9-W7 CPU speed select VX41 and VX42 only |

Note that these settings are provided for owners wishing to upgrade their 166MHz models to a 233MHz model in conjunction with the appropriate CPU swap. Some owners report that the 233MHz CPU may be overclocked quite sucessfully to 266MHz. However, any owner attempting to do so should carefully consider the additional heat generated and associated cooling issues along with any warranty issues involved with such modifications. 0 indicates jumper installed, 1 indicates no jumper present. * indicates that this setting is not supported by Digital.
